Junior Racing

CYC JUNIOR REGATTA is a regatta held within CYC, for CYC Junior sailors. Sailors wishing to participate in this 2-day, round-robin event will be asked to sign up during class time. Regular classes are not held during the regatta. A social cook-out is held after the last race on the second day, followed by award presentations. Parent participation is encouraged!

SM SAILING Championships: CYC Junior sailors traditionally participates in:

Cummings Cup	3-handed boats (3 crew + alternate)
Nash	2-handed boats (2 crew + alternate)
Gill	2-handed boats, women only (2 crew + alternate)

SM SAILING Regattas that CYC Junior sailors regularly participate in include:

Check early with the Head Coach for registration and medical forms, and due dates for those forms. Again, remember: it is the sailor’s/parent’s responsibility to get his/her boat to/from regattas. Junior Program Staff Members are not available to assist in transportation.

Skippers are responsible for ALL parts of the boat (sails, lines, plugs, rudder, spinnaker, spinnaker pole, etc.) and will be charged for replacement costs of any missing items upon the return from regattas. Make certain you take care of your gear! CYC and the Staff are not responsible for gear taken to regattas.

UNKIE CUP is a progressive, inter-club regatta. Chapoquoit, Quissett, Wild Harbor, and Megansett Opti sailors are eligible to compete in the Green, White, or Red fleets. The event takes place on four (4) Wednesdays throughout the sailing season – rotating yacht clubs.

If you choose to participate be sure to sign up with the Program Director. The CYC Opti trailer is available for six (6) boats. It is the sailor’s responsibility to get his/her boat on/off the trailer. There will be a sign-up sheet for space. It is the/a parent’s responsibility to tow the trailer to/from regattas. Junior Program Staff Members are not available to assist in transportation.
